A month on from 2024's Future Spaces event, we're taking a look back on our biggest event yet.
Future Spaces 2024, held at the historic Jesus College, University of Cambridge, once again brought together a diverse group of creatives, designers, industry leaders, and sustainability enthusiasts. This year's event delved deeper into the cutting-edge concepts shaping the future of sustainable and wellness-focused spaces.
With over 90 attendees, the day was filled with thought-provoking discussions, inspiring products from our wonderful sponsors, and valuable networking opportunities. Leading figures in the industry shared their insights on inclusive design, circularity, and the future of interiors, sparking lively conversations and generating new ideas.

Our 2024 speakers were extremely inspiring, eye-opening and insightful. We had the pleasure of having Sophie Schuller, Head of Applied Research at Cushman & Wakefield, as our opening speaker. Her captivating talk on 'The Spaces that Shape Us: How Our Environments Affect Our Brains, Bodies, and Behaviours,' left a lasting impression on our attendees. Her insights into how environments affect our well-being challenged us to rethink our approach to design.
We were also joined by Nigel Silcock from Exubia, Jim Taylour from Orangebox in the morning session. They brought the importance of biophilia within the built environment and the complexitiy to inclusive design to the audience.
The afternoon session consisted of Tim Knights from Hoare Lea and Shaz Hawkins from Tarkett. These presentations opened engaging conversations on decarbonisation and a comprehensive overview of human-conscious design principles to close the day.

One of the highlights of the event was the interactive workshop, "Collaborate + Create," sponsored by Actiu. Teams were challenged to design a versatile, multi-use facility that seamlessly integrated modern workplace and hospitality elements. The open-ended brief allowed participants to explore their creativity and envision innovative solutions.
As teams collaborated, brainstormed, and built their layouts, the Layrd team provided guidance and insights on the brief. We encouraged participants to consider the potential uses of the furniture, offering suggestions and prompts to spark their imagination.
Attendees envisioned the future of workspaces, exploring new possibilities for collaboration, flexibility, and well-being. The workshop also provided a valuable platform for networking with like-minded professionals, fostering new connections and partnerships.

A huge thank you to our 2024 sponsors for supporting the event. Tarkett, Regent Construction , Forma5, Graphenstone, Zip Water, Solus Ceramics, Liquidline & Actiu.

We're already excited about the possibilities for 2025. Building on the momentum of this year's event, we are planning to expand and enhance our offerings, bringing together even more industry leaders and innovative thinkers.
Stay tuned for updates on Future Spaces 2025 and join us for another unforgettable event that will shape the future of sustainable and wellness-focused spaces.
